Sir Digby, Lord Jones: Winner of the Extra Special Cunt Award 2021
The Extra Special Cunt Award is a special award given to someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Sticking their head above the parapet to voice or demonstrate cuntiness without regard for the consequences of the actions.
This year’s winner is someone that almost no one would have heard of other than for the reason he is winning this award…
An obscure and, if house records are to be believed, lazy member of the House of Lords, Digby Jones wins this awards not for his politics but for his crimes against linguistics.
Jones caused outrage on Twitter in July for criticising Alex Scott – former England women’s football captain turned Olympic commentator for the BBC – for dropping her g‘s from the end of words.
Cunty Digby Tweeted: “Enough! I cant stand it anymore! Alex Scott spoilt a good presentation job on the BBC Olympic Team with her very noticeable inability to pronounce her ‘g’s at the end of a word. Competitors are not taking part, Alex, in the fencin, rowin, kayakin, weightliftin, & swimmin”
What Digby appears to be hankering for is a return to Received Pronounciation on the BBC; the Queen’s English; the English of the Empire – Cunt English.
Failing or refusing to recognise the value of colloquial or regional dialects, Jones seems adamant that a singular , ‘correct’ way of speaking is the only way to speak – a man who thinks that singular words come with multiple g‘s.
LBC’s James O’Brien said: “Digby Jones wanders into a room, tells everyone how clever he is, but isn’t clever enough to realise how dumb he actually is. Which is an astonishing gift.”
